Where’s Your Joy?

I read this on social media this morning and literally did laugh out loud!

Joy … what does it take to have joy? Is it possible to have a life devoid of anything that doesn’t bring joy? As referenced above, I don’t think that’s possible. Throw away the electric bill too many times and you won’t have lights.

The Bible even confirms this in John 16:33:

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Yes, this world does have trouble. But Jesus is more powerful than any trouble that the world can bring. He can bring peace in the midst of the war. Psalm 23:5 says,

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”

Even in the middle of the battle, with the bullets of life flying right past our heads, Jesus says to sit down and enjoy a nice dinner with Him. A lot of the time, we are so busy watching the bullets and bombs that we don’t notice His table – but it’s always there for  us.

Joy, happiness, peace – it is all a choice. Not always an easy choice but it is always there for us.

If you are in the middle of battle today, I urge you to take a moment and sit down at the feast that Jesus is providing. Take your focus off the enemy and look into the eyes of Jesus. He loves you and wants you to experience the rest, joy and peace that He is providing.

  • For more on this, one of my favorite subjects, you may want to check out my book, “The Joy Factor”. It was a pleasure to meet you some time ago, as we chatted about the launch of your blog. You are doing an excellent job.

  • Great job! Indeed, joy is a choice even in pain, sorrow, and lack of happiness. The joy that Jesus give is a spiritual calmness when we trust in Him!!
